Models
Actors Emerge’s acting divisions are made up of Television, Film, Commercial, Industrial and Voice Over. Emerge looks for actors of all ethnicities and ages, with formal training and professional performance experience.
Kids Our children’s divisions are made up of Print, Commercial, Film, and Television. We accept ages starting at babies, and we look for children of all ethnicities who have outgoing personalities and photographic potential. It is important to realize that it must be the child who wants to participate in this business, and not the force of the parent. We realize that children change their minds everyday about what it is they want to, and like to do, but it is always clear in an audition which children really want it.
Headshot/Resumes A headshot is the most important marketing tool you can have as an Actor. Traditionally, actors have used black and white 8"x10" prints of a 'head and shoulders' photograph of themselves, but over the past few years, 3 /4 shots (from waist–up) have become popular along with colored headshots of top or side of the Actors faces. A professional photographer is a must, and your headshot should always look at you! A good headshot should ‘pop’, it should have something special about it, the eyes, the expression, it should make someone want to stop and look at it for at least a few seconds.
A strong resume attached to a quality headshot is key to an actor's success. Resumes should always be printed on the backside of a headshot. Resumes should include your name (large and bold), Union if any (under your name), stats (left side under your name), contact information (right side under your name), or your agents contact info, and absolutely never ever your social security number. Following that should be your experience, education, and special skills. Always make sure that there are no spelling mistakes or grammatical errors in your resume, and keep your resume clean, and tailored, not a cluttered mess.
Comp Cards A models comp card, also known as a composite card, zed card, is a models most important marketing tool, because it is an inexpensive way to effectively and professionally showcase a model's ability. Comp cards are used on three major levels —by models, agents and the agent's clients.
Models have many different options of creating comp cards. Typically, a comp card is printed on both sides of an 8.5" x 5.5" piece of card stock, and contains a cover page with a full size portrait and a second page with a selection of representative shots from the models portfolio. In addition, model's name, and basic stats —height, weight, three sizes for women (bust, waist, hips), for men (waist, inseam, suit, shirt), shoe size, eye and hair color, must be printed on the comp card.
Modeling Portfolio A Models portfolio is the most important expenditure you will make in the business of becoming a model. The portfolio should be filled with photographs that look as though they have been published. People should assume that the pictures in your book have been used in a commercial advertisement or a fashion magazine.
